Water Park Thrills at El Dorado
El Dorado Park, based in Cap Cana and billed as the largest water park in the Caribbean, gives families a full day out beyond the beach. The park is split into four themed zones, including a dedicated children’s area with junior slides, an artificial river, hot springs and a gem-mining activity, alongside adult attractions such as a wave pool, lazy river and adrenaline slides for older kids and teenagers. Four restaurants and six relaxation areas are on site, and hammocks, umbrellas, parking and changing facilities are all included in the ticket price. The park is currently a 2026 nominee for the World Travel Awards’ Caribbean’s Leading Water Park.
Adventure Beyond the Resort
Families can add an extra dose of adventure to their half-term itinerary at Scape Park at Cap Cana, one of the Dominican Republic’s leading eco-adventure attractions. The park’s programme of catamaran excursions, zip-lining, cenote swimming and jungle exploration gives families the chance to experience the country’s natural landscape together, with private catamaran charters now available for smaller groups of ten or more, making the experience more accessible for families travelling together. Eco-Adventure at Bávaro Adventure Park
Bávaro Adventure Park offers families a full day of eco-adventure across 44 hectares of protected forest, with a children’s play area, rest zones and dining on site for younger visitors and grandparents alike. Older children and teens can take on Sacred River, a daytime exploration of the first underground river located within an adventure park in the region, threading through limestone tunnels and cenotes, or the Zipline Mega Splash, a six-line zipline circuit that finishes with a splash landing over the park’s Blue Lagoon Cenote. For safety reasons, the minimum height for buggies, ziplining and horseback riding is 1.30m, though younger children are welcome to enjoy the park’s water activities alongside parents.
