The finale of the 21st Siva Afi Competition on 18 November concluded with a bang, culminating three days of intense competition, offering Samoa’s best stage for fire knife dancing.
The Competition that started 21 years ago has been greatly seen as an opportunity to showcase and promote Samoan culture on the global level.
In her remarks during the finale, Hon. PM Fiame Naomi Mata’afa acknowledged the founder and Director Leota Lene Leota and Siva Afi Entertainment for making this competition an annual event which is one of the major events in Samoa. The celebration of 21 years speaks volume of the passion and commitment to develop and sustain this traditional performing art.
“Siva Afi Competition is one of the key attractions for tourists, and the government through STA has supported varies local programs to help sustain business, promote products and services and cultural initiatives and activities for incoming visitors and the local population.” said Fiame.
