‘Visit Gibraltar’ the marketing arm of the Gibraltar Tourist Board is rolling out a new logo and identity as a fresh interpretation of the destination and the cultural heritage it represents.
The new visual precedes a consumer driven awareness campaign ahead of the summer market which will feature new creative. A programme of trade and media visits is also planned.
Moving away from the familiar colloquialism ‘Gib’ the new ‘Visit Gibraltar’ logo features Gibraltar in full, with five letters drawn in shaded reference to Gibraltar’s nature and heritage. Featured are a Barbary macaque, Gibraltar Candytuft, the Rock, the Trinity lighthouse and Admiral Lord Nelson, offering a nod to Gibraltar’s British connection.
The new series of adverts are accompanied by the strapline ‘Where the Med begins’ in reference to Gibraltar’s strategic location at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
The rollout of a new brand visual will run alongside social media postings using the hashtag #WheretheMedbegins encouraging Gibraltar’s followers to share and engage.
The brand refresh is part of a longer-term strategy for tourism in the destination which encompasses product enhancement, infrastructure development and green initiatives.
Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture & Tourism, The Hon. Christian Santos said:
“When attracting Gibraltar’s future visitor we want our narrative to embody the fabric of our destination and our cultural identity. We are very excited to be launching a new chapter of storytelling that draws on our history, our protected wildlife, our historic City and of course our people.”
