Piula Cave Pool, a natural freshwater pool located below the historic Methodist Chapel at Piula Theological College, has recently undergone a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing accessibility and improving the overall experience for visitors. The improvements include eight new huts on the seawall, a new access driveway and stairway, brand-new bathrooms and toilets, and an extension to the car park. These new developments are complemented by the beautiful gardens surrounding the campus.
The latest arrivals figures released by the Samoa Tourism Authority show that the Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) market is expanding and remains the largest contributor to tourism growth. In January 2024, the VFR market saw a 42% increase compared to the previous year.
The increase in the VFR market is mainly due to Samoans returning to their homeland for traditional and family obligations. One of the most popular reasons for their visit is to receive a Traditional Samoan Tattoo, which is an essential part of Samoan culture.
