Guests will be welcomed by the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy`s of the Republic of Lithuania Sigitas Mitkus. Lithuania`s tourism opportunities will be represented by general director of Lithuanian State Departament of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy dr. Raimonda Balniene. The participants of the event will have a chance to meet the representatives from the Lithuanian Tourism Office in the UK for the first time.

At the moment there are already over 60 UK’s tourism and media representatives registered. It is expected that the acquaintance with Lithuania and the contacts made among the participants during the networking event will help to increase the number of tourists from the United Kingdom to Lithuania.

The United Kingdom is one of the TOP 10 countries of incoming tourism of Lithuania, according to the Lithuanian Department of Statistics 69,000 tourists from the UK visited Lithuania during 2012.

Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2013. It will be a great challenge not only for politicians, but also for the tourism sector in general. “We are getting ready for this challenge and are holding this event in order to introduce Lithuania and its tourism opportunities as well as meet with potential partners and make good connections, which will be definitely useful for us in the second half of the year,” – says director of the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy dr. Raimonda Balnien?.
